A wick left long makes a tall, flickering flame and dark marks on the vessel. Trimming before each burn is the simplest habit for a candle that looks good to the very end.
About it
Long-handled brass-plated scissors with an angled head that reaches into deep vessels, and a flat foot that catches the trimmed piece of wick. Trim to about a quarter of an inch before every burn, once the candle is cool. At seven inches, it is long enough for our three-wick bowls too. Keep it next to your candles so it is always to hand.
